Really sad new about Wes Craven. I have written about some of his films in the past, some of which stand near the top of my all-time favorite films (Scream, New Nightmare). He was really a ground breaking director when it came to horror. The Last house on the Left (1972) was a really gruesome movie for a low budget. My grandma tells me about seeing that movie at the drive in and how it had horrified her ever since! When he wrote and directed A Nightmare on Elm Street, he introduced all of us to Freddy for the first time. The scene where Freddy’s arms stretch across the street still makes me feel uneasy. I still believe his best achievement was the Scream franchise. I include a small list of my favorite Wes Craven films. R.I.P. You were one of the best…..
Scream 2 is my personal favorite, but the first one is a genius film and is well worth a watch. I have already written a review about it……
Dream Warriors was the 3rd Nightmare on Elm Street, but it was written by Craven and is just an awesome sequel…..I have a review about that as well…..
New Nightmare was the perfect finish to the Freddy Franchise…….
Red Eye…..One of the best thrillers I have ever seen. Cillian Murphy nails it!
Cursed….Not his best movie but one of the most fun werewolf movies I have ever seen! A lot of noticeable faces in it too.
A lot of life is dealing with your curse, dealing with the cards you were given that aren’t so nice. Does it make you into a monster, or can you temper it in some way, or accept it and go in some other direction? – Wes Craven
